Keep On Path

Wasn't Jesus the original hippie? With his sandals, dress and kind, compassionate, tender, joyful nature? What a loaded word that is! I am oftentimes called a hippie – in some ways, I am, some not. It’s a New Moon, and It’s a Doozy

This past week has been one of the more challenging of my life.

Life handed me the same challenges … thankfully not health related!  but just about everything else that could go wrong, did.

For the better part of a day or two, I lay in shock, crying and panicking … except you know, my husband and I still have four children to take care of. No family to lean on for an afternoon off or even a blessed hour. Life just keeps marching on, and so on we stumbled.

For the past year, I have been learning tons of techniques that have been helping me incredibly to find more joy in life, to better handle problems and to quell my naturally empathetic and anxious personality.

I forgot every single one of them.

And I just lay there in complete fear, depression, anger – you name it, I was feeling it,  thinking are you kidding me, again??? Again?????

And then slowly, I remembered.

I breathed deeply. I got up and watched the sunrise. I walked out to the Moon Lodge, lit some sage, some incense, breathed again. Listened to some music, asked for some help from the Big Guy or the Big Gal aka Divinity and began to change my mindset.

I told myself that I could do it.

I told myself that I could handle it.

I told myself that I would get through this.

It’s not what happens in life; it’s how you handle what happens in life.

It’s a New Moon. Join me.

This is the last of the current series of remarkable New Moons that occur at critical degrees: the first and the last degrees of their respective signs. This series started in October with the Solar Eclipse at zero degrees of Scorpio, and continues with New Moons in Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius, followed by a 2nd New Moon in the last degree of Aquarius and now a New Moon – Solar Eclipse, actually – in Pisces.

This has been one wild ride! If you look back over the last 6 months, you should be able to see an unfolding of something quite new in your life. It might be exciting, it might be upsetting, it might be mysterious, it might be wondrous. It could be obvious and in your face, or it might be a subtle unfolding that is resulting in a change of direction in your life.

Whatever it is, this is the final pushing off point. And it’s a doozy!

This New Moon is a Solar Eclipse in the last degree of the last sign of the zodiac: 29:27 of Pisces. The Sun moves into Aries just 13 hours later, and the Moon skips over the cusp less than an hour after the Eclipse is exact. That’s a LOT of energy shifting in a very short period of time.

The important thing to remember is that we’re at a tipping point right now. We just passed the final pass of the Uranus-Pluto square. Cue the Hallelujah Chorus!! But remember that we’re in the Pisces Eclipse, so it needs to be more of an internal, meditative jubilation. 😉

This tipping point happens when something has been coaxed out into the open until you have to finally do something with it. Something’s gotta give. The Uranus-Pluto square has stirred up turmoil from the collective unconscious, and now it’s our job to sift through what has emerged and figure out what to do with it all. No small task! But our mutual survival depends on it.

The 6 New Moons at critical degrees have shifted, shifted, shifted something in your life, bit by bit, and now it’s your job to find ways to sustain it, support it, help it grow and develop, and like a good gardener, apply the right balance of pruning and fertilizer.

This Solar Eclipse is a powerful send-off! So before you just go blindly into the future, take some time to take stock of where you’ve been, what you’ve gone through, and what it has taken to bring you to this point. Good or bad, welcome or dreadful, this is a time to point yourself in a direction that feels right.
